The Way We Came

The Way We Came
Looking back at the way we came. All those curves are why it would take a full day to travel 200km.

Giddy in the Car

Giddy in the Car
Of course without me as navigator, we turned left leaving the Glenn instead of right. Maybe we were just giddy from the storm. Unfortunately the Niagara Parkway exit that you take to get the the Glenn is also the last exit before the Canada-US border. The prospect of crossing the border may also have made us giddy. So though some of us did not have appropriate ID we did manage to cross with promises that we were turning right around. This meant we also had to enter into Canada again. There were long line-ups both ways. Paul was more subdued, Emily was definintely the giddiest.

Return

Return
The same tunnel in Detroit (with Roel or Jeff) on our sad journey home. Thunder and lightning, in a soothing style, accompany our moving sidewalk ride.

Detroit Fountain

Detroit Fountain
There was a rather striking fountain as you enter terminal A of the Detroit airport. While my fellow travelers found loos I took this picture. Notice the blizzard that Fort Lauderdale promises to free us from. I was not dissapointed.

Detroit Tunnel

Detroit Tunnel
Roel in the tunnel joining terminals B and C to the gigantic terminal A at the Detroit airport are very atmospheric and soothing. On the way out it was sorta trance-like abstract. On the way back it was mimicking a thunder storm (but in a soothing way).

Ottawa Airport

Ottawa Airport
These are some of the people I work with (Jeff, Connor, Roel). Really. This picture was taken after the first leg of our journey to CHI2003 in Fort Lauderdale. We woke up at 3am to drive to Ottawa, and here we are waiting for the plane - finding ways to amuse ourselves.
